It was unclear why would someone secure the old plant so heavily, still Katarn had his own mission.
Unfortunately he failed in his attempts, when the security droids found and killed him. Fergo made a small camp in the ruins of the old city not far from the facility, hoping that he would find his brother very soon. Having left the home of their aunt, the young man decided to explore the old plant. In his quest Kyle also found a dead body of a traveller Fergo Matula, that came to Ord Mantell in search for his brother, Astal Matula, that went missing there for quite a long time. They would attack anybody approaching the factory, but Kyle Katarn managed to pass through the junkyard despite the various traps and security. The imperial captain managed to escape and hide somewhere on the surface of Ord Mantell near an old factory that was not operational for a long time, however it was guarded by a squad of modified mining droids. Some considered the possibility that it was the Empire that destroyed the base and killed all the military personnel. Together with the crew of the Mon Calamari starship Home-V they tried to capture the captain of Dreadnought cruiser to learn the truth about the terrible slaughter, that happened on a Republic facility. The Republic Intelligence determined, that at least one Imperial vessel was at the region during the destruction of the Republic base on Goura. Kyle was given an assignment from the New Republic to investigate the incident on the planet of Goura, that took place about a month ago.
